On March 18th at the International Wireless Communications Expo in Las Vegas, (IWCE) you can witness something rare: a product that transforms an industry.

Until now, those responsible for maintaining radios and radio systems have had to choose between the performance of a heavy bench instrument, and the reduced feature set of a lighter, more portable device.

No longer.

The R8000 from General Dynamics is the first and only instrument to deliver the complete functionality of a communications analyzer in a portable (14 lb.) package.

And it's shipping now!

Unlike other devices that have been stripped down to achieve portability, the R8000 doesn't sacrifice an ounce of power to achieve its small size and light weight. Consider these capabilities:

  • Accepts up to 150 Watts of RF power without any external attenuators
  • Bright, 8.4" LCD display viewable in most any lighting conditions
  • Spectrum analyzer noise floor better than -120dBm
  • "Dual Scope" feature, allowing simultaneous viewing of carrier signal on spectrum analyzer and modulation on the modulation scope
  • 3GHz receive and generate capability
  • MOTOTRBO™ test capability
  • Remotely controllable via Ethernet port from any networked PC with optional Remote Front Panel software

The R8000 is built entirely on a software-defined radio architecture. As a result, future options and software upgrades will be easily downloadable via one of the unit's four USB ports.

We will also be offering an IWCE Show Sales Special on the R8000 to those who drop by our booth.

At IWCE visit booth #1555 and see the future of communications test equipment.
